Sunday morning a man was struck and killed in a hit-and–run accident in Granite City, Illinois. In addition, the accident happened on Illinois Route 203, which is located near 21st Street near downtown. The victim was 25-year-old, Mark Scott Harris of St. Louis, and when police found him, he was already deceased.
It is not known how or why the accident happened, or why Harris was walking in the town prior to the accident. Currently, this accident is currently under investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact police. To learn more about this accident, please click here.
Last Tuesday night in North St. Louis, another man was hit and killed in another pedestrian accident in which the driver fled the scene. In addition, 42-year-old, Elijah Brooks of Castle Drive was struck and killed as he walked through the crossing at Goodfellow. Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene. According to witnesses, a black Pontiac Grand Prix struck Brooks and continued to drive away.
Police are still searching for the person who struck Brooks. Thus far for 2015, pedestrian accidents have surpassed the injury total from last year. This year there have been eight pedestrians struck and killed in St. Louis, and four of those victims have died.
