Friday afternoon six children were injured after an accident involving a school bus occurred in Belleville, Illinois. It is presumed that the accident happened when the driver of an SUV failed to yield at the intersection of Foley Drive and West Main Street, as they were turning left. The driver of the SUV and their child suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.
All students were from the Emge School District, and all of the children injured are expected to make a full recovery. The driver of the bus was injured as well, and he or she's current condition is unknown. A full investigation into the crash is pending. Thus far, no citations have been issued. Just a few days earlier in Raleigh, North Carolina another school bus crash occurred when the driver became distracted, sending nine children to the hospital. Luckily none of the children involved in that accident were injured and were later released to go home. This bus crash happened when the driver, Angela Hunter Williams, swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle and hit a different car in the process.
