Blue Bell Creameries has already issued a large recall of its ice cream products due to a listeria, and now the list of products has grown. Furthermore, now pint-sized banana pudding ice cream that was made at its Oklahoma plant has also tested positive for the bacteria. Thus far there have been a total of seven Blue Bell products affected in the current recall. Likewise, the Oklahoma plant is temporarily closed due to the bacterial outbreak.
The FDA is currently investigating the recall at the plant, and the Texas based ice cream corporation is fully cooperating with the probe. Listeria monocytogenes is a serious bacterium, which can cause major health problems. In most people, some of the following symptoms may be present:
- High fever
- Headache
- Nausea
- Abdominal pain
Those who are pregnant, small children, immune-suppressed individuals, and older people are more likely to suffer severe symptoms, which could become life threatening if ingested. To find out more about this recall, please click here.
