A single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a man during the early hours of Sunday. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 26-year-old DeRaymond R. Childress was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Impala on Interstate 270 eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed. The accident happened in North St. Louis County near Highway 367 at approximately 1:48 a.m. Childress’ vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway, striking an embankment, overturning several times and burst into flames. Childress was ejected from the vehicle prior to the vehicle catching fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
