Interstate 8 in Standfield, AZ was backed up for miles Tuesday following a semi crash with a bus carrying inmates. Furthermore, the semi truck crash happened the bus with more than 50 inmates on it was heading to Buckeye when it struck the truck. After the collision, the bus rolled over, and remained in the road blocking milepost 139.
Twenty-two people on board the bus were injured in the semi crash; two Department of Corrections staff members, and 20 inmates. Thirty of the inmates that were uninjured returned to the prison, and all of the others that were injured were treated at a nearby hospital. The inmates were not hurt in the crash stayed on the scene and helped administer first aid to those who were injured. There is no report whether or not the semi driver was injured in the crash.
