Mars Chocolate North America issued a recall for their Dove Chocolate Snowflakes on Friday. The recall is voluntary after a consumer discovered a piece of a Snickers mixed in with the “snowflakes”. Mars believes that other bags of Dove Chocolates could have Snickers, Twix, and Milky Way pieces in their products causing a potential danger to individuals who suffer from a nut, gluten, egg, or dairy allergies. 6,700 cases of the chocolate are affected by the recall and they were sold at Walmart retail stores in 24-ounce bags between September 19 and December 1 in 35 states. Any consumer in possession of the Dove Chocolate Snowflakes can return the items to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Consumers are protected by laws requiring manufacturers to produce goods that are safe and free from defect. Unfortunately, thousands of individuals are treated in emergency rooms across the country for injuries and illnesses suffered by dangerous and defective products. Toys, electronics, pet products, vehicles, and food are recalled many times during any given year. Tragically, several of these recalls are not issued until after a consumer has suffered damages and even death. If a defective or dangerous consumer good caused you to suffer an injury, illness, property damage, or death, you may have grounds to hold the manufacturer responsible by consulting a product liability attorney.
