An elderly man was seriously injured in an ATV accident on Saturday. According to Lawrence County authorities, a man in his 70s was riding an ATV near Perry Township, Pennsylvania, when he lost control of the vehicle and overturned it on an embankment. The man was hunting and during the accident, he was ejected from the vehicle and pinned underneath it when it rolled on top of him. Police believe he suffered injuries to his head and chest, and his condition is unknown.
All-terrain vehicles, ATVs, are used by thousands of individuals for multiple purposes. Despite their capability, drivers often disregard the responsibility required to properly handle the vehicle. Thousands of riders under the age of 16 are injured and killed in ATV accidents due to inexperience driving. Reckless driving can cause ATV accidents, as well as dangerous roadways and vehicle design flaws. ATVs are manufactured with a higher center of gravity making them easy to overturn in an accident. However, a design flaw could result in the vehicle overturning when it should not. Any individual injured in an accident should seek the legal guidance of a skilled personal injury attorney.
