The owner of the popular Carrollwood, Florida area barbeque restaurant has been killed following a fatal motorcycle crash. Furthermore, the generous owner of Alex’s Southern Style BBQ was known by many to give away thousands of bicycles for children in need during the holiday season.
Sadly, 49-year-old, Alex Cooks Sr. died in a motorcycle crash Monday. In addition the motorcycle crash happened when Cooks was leaving a parking lot at 13508 N. Florida Ave, and attempting to turn onto Fletcher Avenue when he failed to yield to traffic. As a result, Cooks hit the passenger side of a westbound vehicle.
68-year-old, Daphne McElwreath was the driver of the vehicle, which struck Cooks; McElwreath was not injured. It was not reported whether or not Cooks was wearing a helmet at the time of the motorcycle crash. Instead of flowers, Cook’s family is asking donations be made to Alex’s Xmas for Kids.
