Tragically, a 16-year-old girl’s body was found along the interstate in New Orleans, LA. Furthermore, Kaylan Ward was struck and killed as she was either walking across or attempting to cross Interstate 10 last Wednesday. Soon after police received calls of a dog or trash that was on right side of the road. Upon an investigation, it was found to be the body of Ward.
The preliminary cause of Ward’s death is due to blunt force trauma. Following her daughter’s death, Ward’s mother, Kenisha Martin-Nelson is urging other teens to simply, “ listen to your parents.” Martin-Nelson is also asking local teens to stop sneaking around, and using her daughter’s pedestrian fatality as a warning. Additionally, Martin-Nelson stated that if her daughter had listened to her, she would still be alive today. The driver of the vehicle that struck and killed Ward has not been found, and the accident is still under investigation.
