A head-on crash Sunday night has taken the lives of four individuals and left four others seriously injured. The accident happened near Santa Cruz, California on Freedom Boulevard when a driver was traveling west and crossed the centerline into the path of oncoming traffic. He was operating a Mercedes transporting six passengers when he struck a Ford truck. The driver of the Mercedes and two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene and a third passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other passengers, along with the driver of the pickup truck, were transported to local hospitals for treatment for major injuries. Authorities stated that alcohol and drugs are believed to have caused of the crash.
