Interstate 66 in Virginia is closed at mile marker 38 this morning due to a semi crash, which happened because of ice on the road. In addition, the tractor-trailer crash backed up traffic for nearly two miles, and a detour was created at exit 31 to Route 245. Furthermore, the accident was an eight-vehicle pile-up on the Outer Loop at Braddock Road due to ice on a ramp.
The icy and winter weather conditions also caused havoc on other roads as well. For instance, there was a stalled bus due to ice on Connecticut Avenue in North Kensington, Maryland. Likewise, there were numerous personal injury accidents on the Inner Loop of the Beltway, as well as several wrecks on I-100, and I-495. Officials want to remind drivers in the area to make sure to drive slowly in hazardous road conditions, and make sure to leave space in between themselves and other drivers.
