Three motorcyclists are dead after a fatal traffic crash. The accident occurred in Lincoln County, Oklahoma along Highway 177, when a driver operating a Chrysler 300 car left the roadway, overcorrected and drove into the path of a motorcycle. The rider of that motorcycle was thrown approximately 70 feet from the initial impact. A chain reaction then occurred causing another motorcyclist to crash into the wreckage and a third motorcyclist crashed trying to avoid the accident. Unfortunately, all three motorcyclists were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
With summer on the horizon, more motorcyclists will be on the roadways. Campaigns to encourage motorists to be fully aware of their surroundings include signs that say, "watch for motorcycles". Their size, compared to other passenger vehicles, makes their visibility difficult. A driver who does not constantly check blind spots or is not fully aware of other motorists is negligent when causing an accident. If you have been injured in a motorcycle accident, contacting an accident attorney is important to hold the at-fault party responsible and recover compensation.
