A man traveling near Hampshire, Illinois on his bicycle was killed when an accident occurred with another vehicle. As the 58-year-old bicyclist was traveling east on Allen Road he attempted to cross an intersection, where he had the right of way, and collided with an SUV. The driver of the SUV, a 64-year-old male, was traveling south on Walker Road and had stopped at a stop sign and then proceeded to enter the intersection without noticing the man riding a bike. The bike collided with the SUV at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday. The impact threw the man from the bicycle and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the SUV sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported via ambulance to the hospital. Authorities issued the at-fault driver with a failure to yield a right away citation.
