A 58-year-old truck driver has died as a result of the injuries he sustained in a semi-truck accident on Tuesday. The accident occurred in Woodbridge on the New Jersey Turnpike. The man was operating a fuel tank truck and lost control around the curve of an exit ramp. As he lost control, the truck struck a guardrail and then turned onto its’ side landing in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike. The tank, that was full of gasoline, then erupted into flames. The scene of the accident was near Interchange 11. Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident.
Tractor-trailer accidents can be caused by several factors including drunk driving, mechanical issues, and fatigued driving. Several trucking companies have been accused of overworking their employees that cause fatigue and lead to serious accidents. Individuals who operate a semi-truck for an occupation and are involved in an accident may be eligible for a worker’s compensation claim or wrongful death claim. Contacting a truck accident attorney is important in order to have the accident fully investigated to prove liability and recover compensation for medical bills, funeral expenses, and pain and suffering.
