A Sunday evening truck accident resulted in the death of one driver in Monmouth, Missouri. The accident happened around 6:47 p.m. when 21-year-old Christian E. Moran Flores was traveling in a 2015 Toyota Tacoma on U.S. 34 westbound. Flores crossed the median line and collided head-on with a 2003 Kenworth semitrailer operated by 45-year-old Danny Leroy Scott. The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the roadway and crash into a ditch. Both drivers were transported to the hospital where Scott died from what originally was believed to be minor injuries. The Warren County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident, and Flores was issued a citation for improper lane usage.
Truck accidents involving commercial trucks frequently have devastating results due to the size of the vehicle. Commercial trucks can weigh up to 80,000 pounds when loaded with cargo. While truck accidents can be caused by the negligence of other drivers, dangerous roadways, and mechanical defects, they are often caused by the recklessness of the truck driver. Fatigued driving, distracted driving, and driving under the influence cause the majority of trucking accidents and with proper representation, all parties responsible can be held accountable.
