On Wednesday afternoon, a head-on car accident claimed the lives of two individuals and seriously injured three others. The accident occurred at around 3:05 p.m. near Doe Run and Farmington, Missouri. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 30-year-old Cody Smith was operating a Ford Mustang traveling on Highway 221 northbound when he crossed the center line and collided with a Dodge Caravan. The impact claimed the life of 33-year-old Crystal Boyer, the front seat passenger of the Ford, and 50-year-old Donna Hampton, the driver of the Dodge. Smith was seriously injured in the accident and transported by medical helicopter to a St. Louis hospital. A backseat passenger in the Ford, 31-year-old Shane Snodgrass, and a passenger in the Dodge, 42-year-old Christopher Hampton, were both transported by ambulance to the hospital for their injuries. The Patrol has not released a cause for the accident, and it is unknown if citations will be issued.
