|

An auto accident involving three vehicles sent two individuals to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. The accident occurred on Thursday evening in Illinois City, Illinois, approximately 4 1/2 hours north of St. Louis. According to authorities, 48-year-old Kenneth Stulz was operating a vehicle on 175th St. when he crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic. Stulz's vehicle collided head-on with the dump truck driven by 67-year-old John Sheffy. The impact caused the dump truck to overturn spilling its load of dirt onto the roadway. A third vehicle sustained minor damage when the driver was unsuccessful at avoiding the crash. Stulz was transported to the hospital via ambulance and Sheffy was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Their current conditions are unknown, and the driver of the third vehicle was uninjured. Stulz was cited for improper lane usage and is expected to receive additional charges. Investigators are attempting to determine why is he crossed the center line.
