A couple in Collinsville, Illinois has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit in connection with injuries resulting from a 2007 surgery. Ronald and Stella Vivoid have filed suit claiming that faulty products were used in Ronald’s 2007 routine hip surgery. The defendants were named as Hoemedica Osteonics Corp., d/b/a Stryker Orthopedics, Stryker Corporation, Stryker Sales Corporation, Stryker Ireland Limited, and Southwestern Illinois Health Facilities. Six months after the surgery, Vivoid experienced severe pain in the hip that had been repaired. Upon examination, doctors determined that the metal installed in Vivoid’s hip had corroded due to metal-on-metal contact. The couple claims that they have incurred unnecessary medical expenses, and pain and suffering due to the defective equipment used in the original procedure. They are seeking compensation in excess of $50,000.
