Tragically a Mount Pleasant husband and wife were involved in apedestrian accident Tuesday afternoon when a car struck the pair as they were walking at the intersection of Sunnyslope and Washington Avenue. In addition, Otto and Ulla Theur were hit by the car as they were crossing Washington Avenue on the south side of the street; they were not using the crosswalk.
After the pedestrian accident, Ulla died at the scene, and Otto was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The 44-year-old man who was driving the vehicle which struck the Theurs’ stayed on the scene of the pedestrian accident and complied with police orders. An investigation is pending on the pedestrian accident cause, and alcohol is not considered a factor as of yet. Likewise, no charges have been filed yet in the pedestrian accident as well.
