Over the weekend, the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a tractor accident that killed a young boy. The Patrol reported that 11-year-old Lane J. Holem was operating a 1954 John Deere tractor on Saturday night in Florence, Missouri. Holem was traveling down a steep hill when he lost control of the tractor, overturning along the roadway and landing in a ditch. Holem was ejected from the tractor, and it struck him as it overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Auto accidents claim the lives of thousands of individuals every year, and a vast majority of those accidents are preventable. Auto accidents can include passenger vehicle accidents, tractor-trailer accident, SUV rollovers, ATV accidents, motorcycle accidents, and tractor accidents. Although there are a wide variety of the types of auto accidents, a common factor they all share is that negligence is typically to blame. Dangerous roadways, vehicle defects, and reckless driving are all examples of leading causes of auto accidents. Roadways could be designed with dangerous curves or other issues, and design flaws can cause a vehicle to overturn easily causing an accident. Reckless driving is demonstrated by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, aggressive driving, and distracted driving.
