Sadly one man has died following a fatal pedestrian accident. Furthermore, 53-year-old, Ronald Hondzinski was hit by a vehicle around 10 p.m. Tuesday night while he was out for a walk. In addition, at the time of the pedestrian accident, Hondzinski was walking in the left lane of northbound traffic on Telegraph Road when he was hit by a vehicle.
After the driver of the car hit Hondzinski, they fled the scene. However, a 22-year-old Taylor resident came to the police station about an hour after the pedestrian accident to turn himself him. The driver told police he originally thought he struck an animal in the roadway and continued driving home. After speaking to family members the driver then returned back to the area to check on what he had struck with his vehicle, and saw the road filled with emergency personnel and realized it must have been a person.
Police do not believe the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the pedestrian accident, but an investigation is pending. Thus far no charges have been filed in connection with the accident.
