Custom Produce in Parlier, California has recently recalled Fat Boy cucumbers due to a
salmonella poona outbreak. Furthermore, the recall is fresh off the heels of the Andre
& Williamson recall from Sept. 4 due to the same reason. According
to the most recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
people from 30 states have become ill due to the cucumbers, and sadly
two have died.
Andrew & Williamson cucumbers were shipped from Baja California and
Mexico according to their recall. Fat Boy cucumbers went to California,
Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Texas. Likewise,
the recalled cucumbers were shipped to Red Lobster and Jimmy Johns restaurants,
as well as sold at various retailers.
Thus far two victims of the salmonella tainted cucumbers have filed civil
damage suits in federal court in Minnesota and Arizona. One of the victims
that are suiting the company is a Texas couple who ate at Red Lobster
in Minnesota in August while visiting friends. The other victims who are
suing ate at a Red Lobster in California and became sick as well.
