Highways are dangerous, as an accident is more likely to occur in an area densely populated with vehicles. To prevent getting into a highway accident, drivers should keep a safe distance between them and other vehicles on the road. For example, it is advised that drivers follow the “three-second rule”, which is designed to give drivers three seconds to come to a stop before reaching the vehicle in front of them. In addition, follow all traffic safety laws, including speeds and proper blinker usage, while on the highway in order to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
