A scary scene unfolded on Wednesday afternoon when a tractor-trailer accident resulted in the truck cab hanging over the edge of a bridge. The truck accident happened on the Discovery Bridge on Highway 370 when the tractor-trailer and two other vehicles were involved in a collision at around 12:20 p.m. The truck driver was very lucky to survive uninjured, and unfortunately, two other individuals were taken to the emergency room for non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
Tractor-trailer accidents are often serious due to the size of the truck. Fatigued driving is one of the leading causes of tractor-trailer accidents. Did you know that laws prohibit truck drivers from operating their vehicle more than 70 hours a week? Unfortunately, many drivers and trucking companies ignore these regulations in an attempt to increase their profit. A common theme amongst drivers is if they are not driving their truck they're not getting paid. Fatigued driving has been compared to driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol due to the effects the driver experiences.
