A lawsuit has been filed by the family of a murdered couple against a Missouri juvenile rehabilitation camp. According to the lawsuit, a Michigan couple was vacationing at their summer home near Lampe, when two teenage boys broke into their home in 2013. The boys stabbed the elderly couple to death and then burglarized their home. The boys had escaped from the juvenile rehabilitation camp, Lives Under Construction. The lawsuit is claiming the camp did not properly supervise the juveniles nor did they responsively notify the police and residents in the area that there was a security breach. The two teenage boys were convicted of the murders, and each is serving a life sentence. According to the lawsuit, the family is seeking unspecified damages from the juvenile camp and its employees including the board members. A spokesperson with the camp claims no responsibility for the death of the couple.
