A Las Vegas child is dead after a vicious dog attack by a pit bull mix. The family of a nine-year-old boy is grieving after the child was attacked and killed by a dog while he was walking in the East Valley on Wednesday afternoon. Family members say the boy was walking to a friend’s house near his home when the attack occurred. The victim’s grandmother found the child badly wounded on the ground and the dog covered in blood. The nine-year-old boy was rushed to Sunrise Hospital Trauma where he was pronounced dead.
The dog was euthanized Thursday morning, and his owner faces civil and criminal consequences. The attacker was a 3-year-old pit bull mix named Left Eye and had previously attacked children and other dogs in the area, according to neighbors. A witness said they had filed a police report just three weeks ago after Left Eye attacked her child and dog. If this dog was involved in another attack just three weeks ago, the owner could be charged with criminal action. Neighbors also say the dog was seen running loose this year.
