Ten people suffered injuries in San Francisco’s Chinatown after a car plowed into a bus shelter during lunchtime. Police reported the accident took place around 12:30 p.m. on a crowded street lined with smaller retail shops and restaurants. Witnesses reported that the victims were bleeding profusely and the scene was very chaotic. The driver was also injured in the accident, and it is not known at this time what made the car lose control and crash into the bus shelter.
Pedestrian accidents send at least 150,000 people to the emergency room each year with minor to serious injuries. These accidents are particularly frightening because they do not just happen when pedestrians are crossing the road. They can happen while in parking lots, walking on sidewalks and even waiting on the bus. It is important always to be alert when you are out on your bike, running or just walking around. Use the same rules as you would if you were driving such as paying attention to your surroundings and other pedestrians, don’t consume alcohol and try to travel and lastly put the cell phone away while you are walking. Injuries can be scary when you are involved in a pedestrian accident. Victims can receive large medical bills after sustaining injuries and can be caused undue stress along with physical and mental anguish. An experienced attorney will investigate your claims and determine if you have grounds to pursue legal action.
