Nearly 2 million pounds of ready-to-eat chicken products are being recalled by National Steak and Poultry. The company sites that the products are being recalled due to the possibility of the chicken being undercooked and possible bacteria contamination. These products were produced on dates ranging from August 20, 2016, through November 30, 2016. The ready-to-eat chicken is labeled with “P-6010T’ and was sold to various food service locations around the nation and was also sold directly to consumers. This recall is expanded from the original recall which was November 23, 2016. This recall also includes Hormel Natural Choice 100% Natural No Preservatives Fully Cooked Roasted Chicken Breast Strips with Rib Meat Natural Smoke Flavor. The company suggests any consumer who has been sickened by one of the recalled products should immediately contact their doctor. Consumers are urged to throw away any affected product or return it.
Recalls are put in place to alert consumers of any defects or flaws in the products they have purchased. Consumers are protected by product liability laws and can hold companies liable for injuries if the company is negligent. Many injuries or illnesses can be caused due to defective products. This means that consumers can be left with a hefty medical bill after seeking medical care after using or consuming recalled products.
