This case stemmed from an incident that occurred on September 25, 2011. On this date, the client, who was an innocent bystander, suffered the loss of her leg as the result of a high-speed police pursuit by a St. Louis city police officer.
According to research, this is one of the first cases of its kind to reach a jury verdict as many of these cases have been dismissed before ever making it to trial due to difficulties in establishing proximate cause.
