Schurman Retail Group recalls their VIVID red Wine Crush decorative gift boxes that are made with metallic paper coverings due to possible mold contamination. These boxes come packaged in clear cellophane and have “VIVID handmade” on the bottom written in gold ink. These were sold at Paper Destiny, Carlton Cards Stores, and PAPYRUS in October 2016. The mold that may be present can cause respiratory or other infections to individuals who have damaged lungs or an allergy to mold. There have been nine reports of irritation, and the company has recalled around 8,400 boxes. The company is prompting consumers to stop using the recalled product and return the items for a full refund or visit their website for return information.
Thousands of products are recalled each year due to defective parts, contamination, fire and choking hazards or lacerations, to name a few. Each recall means there is a threat that a consumer can be harmed. Luckily, product liability laws are put in place to help protect consumers from faulty or damaged products and help hold the companies liable for any injuries they may cause. Sometimes these products can be returned for a refund or replacement. Other times, the products can harm consumers and cause minor to severe injuries. In any case, anyone injured due to a faulty or defective product should contact a product liability attorney. An experienced attorney can assess the claim and determine if you have grounds to pursue legal action for your injuries.
