Around 6:30 in the morning on Thursday, a fatal vehicle accident took place in Colden, New York. A driver was on the top of a hill when their vehicle veered off of the roadway and flipped over, consequently catching on fire. Tragically, the driver passed away at the scene of the accident. The passenger was rescued by two people who were nearby. Allegedly, they tried to save the driver too but were unable to. The State Police reported that speed may have contributed to the accident.
Speeding is among the top contributing factors of fatal vehicle accidents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, about 1,000 people pass away every month in the United States as a result of accidents in which speeding is related. Speeding increases the amount of time it takes for a vehicle to come to a complete stop, increases the damages in the case of an accident, and makes driving on unsafe road conditions even more dangerous. To prevent vehicle accidents and protect yourself and others on the road, follow all traffic safety laws and regulations.
