A multi-vehicle auto accident in Illinois resulted in the death of one individual and six others sustained injuries. The crash happened on Sunday night near Red Bud. According to the Illinois State Police, a 63-year-old man was operating a Ford Explorer eastbound on Route 3 when he crossed the median line and into the path of the westbound traffic. The Ford collided with a GMC Acadia and a Mitsubishi Lancer at around 8 p.m. The male driver of the Ford suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital. Tragically, the occupants of the GMC sustained the most damage including the death of a woman passenger. The driver of the GMC, a 36-year-old man, and four children were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries, and three teens in the Mitsubishi were uninjured. The driver of the Ford has been charged with improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle. Authorities closed Route 3 for several hours while they cleared debris and investigated the crash.
