Police in St. Louis are searching for the driver who caused a hit and run accident. The accident happened over two weeks ago when a woman and her husband were riding their bikes along S. Grand Boulevard in south St. Louis. As they rode in the bike lane, a red Ford mustang struck the woman from behind. The impact caused her to be thrown into the air, she landed on top the hood of the car and then rolled onto the pavement. The driver of the Ford, stepped out of her vehicle and then got back into the car and drove away from the accident. Despite having photos of the vehicle from nearby security cameras, the driver or the vehicle have yet to be located. The victim suffered injuries to her leg that has caused pain and required physical therapy. Police are encouraging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the vehicle or the driver to contact authorities.
Hit and run accidents involving pedestrian accidents are very common because it is easy for the driver to flee the scene of the accident when their vehicle doesn’t receive as much damage as it would if the collision involved another vehicle. Tragically, thousands of pedestrians and bicyclists are left for dead every year because a driver is attempting to avoid any charges or responsibility for the accident.
