Have you or a loved one suffered injuries in a workplace accident? If so, you are one of the thousands of individuals that have sustained work-related injuries within the year. Most individuals do not concern themselves with the possibility of becoming injured or killed in a work-related accident. However, nearly 5,000 individuals are killed while performing their job each year in the United States. Blunt force trauma, falls, repetitive trauma and other work-related injuries can alter the lives of workers. Fortunately, worker’s compensation laws have been established to protect worker’s rights. In Missouri, all companies that employ five or more workers are required to carry worker’s compensation insurance to provide injured workers benefits in the form of medical coverage and wage replacement. Unfortunately, the insurance only replaces the worker’s lost wages at a rate of 66.6% of their average weekly wage. The difference in income can result in individuals suffering financially. If you have been injured in a workplace accident, it is imperative to consult a worker’s compensation attorney to obtain the compensation you deserve.
