A Kansas woman is dead after a fatal auto crash involving a state trooper this past Tuesday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a state trooper was responding to an accident and lost control of his patrol car, slamming into another vehicle near Spearville. The 24-year-old trooper was traveling eastbound on U.S. 50 at approximately 7:07 a.m. when a tractor-trailer pulled out of a truck stop onto the highway. The trooper veered onto the shoulder while braking hard to avoid colliding with the tractor-trailer. The trooper then attempted to come back into the lane but lost control of his vehicle and drove into the westbound lanes, striking the 59-year-old woman’s car. The woman then struck the third car behind her. The woman was killed instantly. The trooper was taken to a Dodge City hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries. The multiple vehicular accident is still under police investigation, and it is unclear if any charges will be filed.
