On Monday afternoon, a pregnant mother of twins was killed in an ATV accident that also injured her son. According to the Iowa State Police, the 27-year-old woman was operating an ATV, all-terrain vehicle, with her 3-year-old son along Morgan Avenue in Logan when she lost control of the 4-wheeler. The vehicle overturned and both mother and son were thrown onto the roadway, striking the pavement. The two were transported to area hospitals where tragically, the woman and her unborn twins died. The 3-year-old boy remains hospitalized but is believed to be in good condition. The woman was well known in the community and many individuals are mourning her, and the unborn children’s loss.
ATV accidents are one of the many types of auto accidents that occur thousands of times a year in the United States. While the same factors of traffic accidents can apply to ATV accidents, vehicle design flaws could be more common in ATV accidents. These vehicles are more prone to rollover accidents due to their higher center of gravity. However, a rollover accident may occur in a situation when it should not, due to a design flaw or mechanical error. Regardless of the type or circumstances related to your auto accident, a full investigation should always be conducted to properly determine the cause and party responsible.
