A vehicle accident occurred in Delaware around 1:00 a.m., allegedly involving alcohol and speed. The accident took place when a nineteen-year-old boy was driving, over the speed limit, on U.S. Route 9. While approaching a curve in the road, the driver did not turn his wheel properly in order to stay on the road. As a result, the vehicle crossed across the road and opposing lanes of traffic left the road, then zig-zagged in the other direction and left the other side of the road. Then, the vehicle spun until it hit a utility pole and left the air, landing upside down. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Tragically, the driver passed away at the scene of the accident.
Driving while intoxicated is extremely dangerous. About every 120 seconds, a drunk driving incident injures a person. In addition, drunk drivers are likely to speed, as their ability to make logical decisions is impaired by alcohol. Speeding is a factor in 33% of fatal vehicle accidents. In order to ensure the safety of yourself and others, drive according to traffic safety laws and regulations.
