The funeral for a central Illinois police officer was held Wednesday. The police officer died in a tragic auto accident while responding to another traffic accident. His vehicle was struck by an ambulance responding to the same emergency. The Illinois Police Department say at 9 p.m. on Friday, March 5, the officer was responding to a call and made a u-turn on Route 267. It was then that his vehicle was hit by an ambulance responding to the same call. Three other people in the ambulance were injured. The South Jacksonville village police officer was a married father of two young children.
