In the city of Springfield, Missouri, a pickup truck crashed into a power pole after being chased by police. The Greene County Sheriff's Office has not released why the two in the pickup truck were being chased. The police were called to a possible burglary at the 5200 block of North Farm Road 151 on the morning of March 7. Police spotted a vehicle meeting a description and began a chase. The vehicle only stopped after losing control and hitting a power pole. A large power outage was a result of the crash. The two suspects have been taken into custody. While this crash ended in an electric outage, police chases can be deadly.
High-speed police chases can claim the lives of innocent victims. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that more than 5,000 innocent people have been killed by high-speed police chases from 1979-2013. These chases cause extremely hazardous situations for other drivers and pedestrians. High-speed police chases are just one of the many circumstances that cause fatal car accidents or life-threatening injuries. Many victims can feel powerless to seek retribution and compensation when in a car accident and should consult an experienced attorney.
