An ATV accident in rural Pennsylvania claimed the lives of two men over the weekend. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, two men were traveling in a side-by-side ATV when the driver lost control resulting in the crash on Saturday night. At around 8:30 p.m., a 25-year-old Stillwater man and a 35-year-old Sweet Valley man were traveling on Volanski Road when the driver failed to negotiate a turn causing the ATV to leave the roadway. As the ATV drove down an embankment, the men were thrown from the vehicle and killed during the accident. Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident and believe that speed could have played a factor in the crash.
Auto accidents occur in many forms including car crashes, truck accidents, motorcycle crashes, and ATV accidents. All-terrain vehicles, ATVs, are utilized by thousands of individuals as work vehicles as well as for recreational purposes. Traffic laws pertaining to ATV use are a bit lax, and it can be difficult to monitor individuals driving ATVs due to the majority of ATVs being utilized in rural areas. Speeding, inexperienced driving, and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol contribute to a vast majority of all ATV accidents.
