Hundreds gathered at Creve Coeur Park Saturday morning for the 4th Annual St. Louis Walk Like MADD and MADD Dash. St. Louis Walk Like MADD participants seek to raise money and raise awareness on the impacts of drunk driving. St. Louis Walk Like MADD features a timed 5K race and is expected to raise over $20,000. The local fundraiser was originally organized by a Missouri woman who tragically lost her son to a drunk driver in May of 2011. Her son was killed just two days before he turned 30-years-old and only two days after Mother’s day. The May event has grown over the last four years and has raised a total of more than $65,000. Those passionate about this local event look forward to next year’s 5th Annual St. Louis Walk Like MADD and have already begun planning.
The MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) organization has been educating the public on the devastating effects of driving while impaired. However, despite the passionate national efforts of MADD, thousands of victims are continuously killed every year across our country by drunk drivers.
