Six individuals were transported to the hospital after sustaining injuries from flying debris after a car crashed into a cement planter and then a pole in Los Angeles. The car accident happened during the annual Los Angeles Auto Show and not far from its location at the downtown Convention Center. A member of the Fire Department reported that eight people were checked for injuries and six were receiving treatment at local hospitals. He also reported that the victims, aged 31-48, had all sustained injuries that were non-life-threatening. It was no certain if any of the pedestrians were struck by the car.
It is estimated that over 150,000 pedestrians visit the emergency rooms each year due to pedestrian-related injuries. As the story above indicates, a pedestrian accident can occur anywhere and even in the strangest locations. Anyone who is walking on a sidewalk or roadside is in danger in being involved in a pedestrian accident. It is always wise to increase your visibility when walking at night by wearing reflective clothing and carrying a flashlight. Remember to always use crosswalks or intersections when available and if you have to walk on the shoulder of the road do so facing traffic. These tips can help prevent you or a loved one being involved in a pedestrian accident.
