A Nashville man has been charged in a hit-and-run crash, and police say the driver is a habitual motor vehicle offender. The 52-year-old man is in police custody after a traffic accident last month in which he allegedly struck a bicyclist and then fled the scene. The bicyclist was seriously injured.
Police have charged the Nashville man with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, cocaine possession and driving on a revoked license. He is currently being held on a $12,000 bond. Police say the accident occurred on October 7 on 28th Avenue North near Poston Avenue. A female bicyclist was struck by a speeding gold Cadillac Escalade. Police say he struck her from behind and drove away from the crash. Authorities say the victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Hospital and will recover from her injuries. With the help of witnesses, investigators located the suspect at the Cumberland Inn on Trinity Lane. The Nashville man has four previous DUI convictions. When he was taken into custody this week, police said he was in possession of cocaine.
