A Townville, Pennsylvania woman, was seriously injured in an early morning accident when she was struck by a minivan. The 25-year-old was walking eastbound when she was hit by a Chrysler Town & Country van that was traveling eastbound also. The driver, a 20-year-old woman, continued 75 feet with the victim on the hood of the van until she rolled off. The authorities reported that the van came to a stop 30 feet from the victim. The driver did not sustain injuries, but the van was damaged and needed to be towed from the scene. The victim was taken by helicopter and is hospitalized in serious condition.
It is estimated that over 150,000 pedestrians are treated each year in emergency rooms across the nation. Pedestrians have a greater risk of being struck by a vehicle especially during hours that have low visibility. It is always important to be visible to oncoming traffic by wearing reflective clothing, carrying a flashlight and walking on a sidewalk or path. If you are ever struck by a vehicle, it is important to contact an attorney immediately. An attorney can help determine the legal action and hold the responsible party liable for their actions.
