A boating accident occurred on Saturday around 4:02 p.m. in the San Francisco Bay area. The boat that was involved in the accident was 34 feet long and turned over around Pier 45. The U.S. Coast Guard was contacted to report to the accident and rescue the 30 people that were on the boat at the time. Tragically, one child is in critical condition after being rescued from the cabin with a woman before the boat completely capsized and sunk. Additionally, two more children and five adults were hospitalized. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
Boating accidents are one of the most common types of vehicle accidents, as people often set out to enjoy a ride on a boat without having the complete knowledge necessary to operate it safely. Or, in some cases, people operate boats under unsafe conditions, such as distractedly or while under the influence.
