An 8-year-old California child was injured in a pedestrian accident when a vehicle crashed into a Panda Express in San Diego. According to the San Diego Police, the crash occurred on Wednesday at approximately 6:30 p.m. on the 9200 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. The San Diego Police say a female driver was attempting to park when she lost control of her Toyota, jumped the curb and struck an 8-year-old boy outside the restaurant in the Clairemont neighborhood. Authorities say the vehicle then smashed through the front glass doors of the restaurant, causing major property damage to the building.
The young pedestrian sustained serious injury and was taken to Rady Children's Hospital. Authorities say he is recovering from serious but nonlife-threatening injuries. Police say no one else was injured in the crash including the driver. The Panda Express had to shut down for business until the damage was repaired. The identities of those involved in the crash have not been released at this time. Police say the accident is still under investigation.
