Residents of a city in Tennessee are relieved to hear officials are taking action at a dangerous intersection in Clarksville. Many neighbors and business owners have considered this dangerous intersection the reason for weekly traffic accidents. City officials have approved a new signal for the intersection of Edmonson Ferry Road and U.S. Highway 41A.
A local business owner whose building is situated at the intersection says he hears weekly traffic accidents. Authorities say there have been eight deaths due to traffic accidents at this location since 2014. Just weeks ago, four people were killed in a head-on collision. Two years ago a Montgomery County Deputy was killed in a crash here. Residents say the interaction is two busy and there is no traffic light. The new traffic light at the intersection is overdue, and residents are eager to have it installed. The Clarksville Traffic Engineer says a timeline for installation has yet to be announced, but the project also includes additional turn lanes and a change in the steep angle that turns. A spokesman for the city of Clarksville said the mayor is pushing for a quick installation.
