Investigation Concluded For Collinsville Student's Death

|

The Collinsville Police Department has decided the death of a student in a school accident was the result of horseplay. On September 16, a student at Collinsville High School fell from a stair banister and died days later from his injuries. The CPD interview several students and witnesses to determine if there was criminal intent. After weeks of investigation, the authorities released a statement on Friday saying the accident was a result of three boys playing around. The student, a freshman at Collinsville High School, attempted to slide down the banister on a set of stairs. A friend of the victim told police he pushed the boy down the banister to help him go faster. The student lost his balance and fell from the second floor to the first floor.

The case comes to a close as police and school officials have labeled the death a tragic accident. Collinsville High School officials said they have looked into the safety of the stairs to determine if changes need to be made. It is unknown if the school is making any changes. The parents of the victim have not said publicly how they feel about the conclusion of the police investigation.
