Two Fatal Bicycle Accidents In Kansas City

|

Two bicyclists have died in two separate traffic accidents this week in Kansas City. According to officials, a 75-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in an accident in Topeka. Police say the man was struck by a car on September 20 and was hospitalized for weeks. Officials say on Wednesday the man passed away. Shawnee County Police are still investigating the accident to determine who had the right-of-way. Officials say once the investigation is complete, the case will be handed to the Shawnee County District Attorney's Office.

Another fatal accident occurred on October 3 when a bicyclist was struck and killed in Eureka. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a vehicle rear-ended the bicyclist on U.S. 54, just east of the Greenwood County. Police say the bicyclist landed in a ditch and died. Officials report the driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene and was unharmed. No charges have been filed, but the accident is still under investigation. Police have identified the victim as a 60-year-old man from Western Australian.
