An Alton man has pleaded guilty to a drunk driving crash that killed a Metro East couple. The drunk driver will spend 20 years in prison for two counts of aggravated DUI resulting in death. According to a local news report, the 25-year-old man was charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence causing death and illegally possessing a controlled substance. In September of 2013, the 25-year-old drunk driver fatally struck a motorcycle driven by a 66-year-old Wood River man with his 63-year-old wife, according to a police report. The drunk driver attempted to run away from the scene on foot, but was chased and captured eye-witnesses and later arrested by police. Police say the man tested positive for marijuana and was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
